We recently shot some interviews as part of our documentary on 4-6 year-olds entitled Little or Big? It was a great day - the kids were so bright and articulate. The producers would like to thank all the parents and kids who participated. We can't wait to get started on the edit process.
Fast Comfort Food has undergone a series of re-edits and is now being submitted to festivals.
Day Trip is in the final editing stages. Steven Hathaway has signed on as the editor on Day Trip. Steven has worked with Errol Morris for a number of years, most recently editing Standard Operating Procedure, which can currently be seen in theaters.
A lot has happened for us in recent months – we have shot two short narrative films, several commercial projects, and are currently at work on several exciting new endeavors.
Our latest shorts were both shot by PH O’Brien. P.H. was also the cinematographer for the feature length documentaries The War Tapes, and Reel Life, both available on dvd release. P.H. has filled many roles throughout his career in film, and his documentary shooting style has been a perfect fit.
The music for Fast Comfort Food was composed by Brad Marrapodi, Berklee School of music grad and Staten Island native, who is now based in Hollywood. Brad has created the music for two previous Comfort Food shorts. He has worked on multiple independent and studio films.
Editing was done by A.F.I. grad Kevin M. Andersen (who is also a sculptor and an experienced feature film credited cameraman and DP) and Israeli native, Bar Kastershtain-Mizne. Bar is also a filmmaker, currently doing graduate film work at Mass School of Art.
We invite those familiar with our films, and newcomers alike, to take a look at the site, check out some photos (all taken by talented on-set photographer Alyssa Ringler), or enjoy a film clip. As these two films make their way to festivals we will keep you informed of where and when they are playing.
For Day Trip, our latest film, we were able to use Verrill Farms, a working farm and country store in Concord MA, and, as a second principal location, an operational correctional facility. We were excited to get to use both of these outstanding spots. We are extremely grateful to the Verrill family, and to our technical advisor on the film, Sgt. Lenny Smith.
Brian S. Goodman plays a young inmate being transferred across the state to another facility. Brian, who has appeared in an episode of the television show Line of Fire, will be seen in the upcoming feature film Real Men Cry, opposite Ethan Hawke, Mark Ruffalo, and Amanda Peet. Mike Pingree, the columnist behind Through The Looking Glass in the Boston Herald, plays the older guard. Although he has just gotten into acting, Mike can be seen in variety of bit roles in several locally shot major Hollywood productions, including Gone Baby Gone. Scott Thompson (who co-produced and co-wrote the script) plays the younger guard.
Day Trip is currently in the editing stage.
Fast Comfort Food, an eighteen minute short, was shot several months ago – the principal location was Bear Rock Café, located in Reading, Massachusetts. Bear Rock also has a location in Woburn/Winchester – it’s an upscale sandwich place with pizza, salads, and soups (they do breakfast too). We are extremely grateful to the guys at Bear Rock, and are also indebted to Billy Haufler, a local real estate developer, who graciously provided another of the locations for us.
Fast Comfort Food features Hope Farley as Callie, a young woman fighting a few personal problems, who gets a job working in an upscale fast food place. Hope appears in a scene in the HBO mini-series John Adams starring Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney. Hope has also appeared on episodes of The Brotherhood and the now defunct The Waterfront. A talented artist, and world traveler, she has a great future in acting. Scott Thompson (who also produced) plays Chris, a world weary store manager. Scott, a talented chef by day, has previously appeared in several local independent films. Eddie Coleman (Barry), Bea Thompson (Gram), Eleni Papadopolous (Wendi), Beau Piscopo (Delivery Guy), Mike Kripchak (Gary), and Adam Masnyk (Jay) do a great job in supporting roles. Eddie and Bea are veterans by now, having appeared in two previous films for us, as has Jacky Shields, who does a comic turn as Slow Man. Mark McIntyre, Sam Pannier, Rob Murphy, Ana Vaz, Leandro Alves, Amie Woodford, Dan Kahan, and Kaitlin Mckenna, among others, round out a great cast.
Fast Comfort Food will be making its way in the world along the festival route soon.
